Maritime Service
Serving the maritime world with short notice, quick and dirty projects
Gent Technical Service has more than 20 years of experience in Maritime Service. Working for companies such as the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN) we did many trials on board a large variety of ships.
Usually the trials consisted of the typical installations of torque meters on the propellershafts together with a GPS and anemometer – as a minimum – to conduct speed-power trials. For manoeuvring, motionsensors are added, and the rudder movements are monitored as well.
Over the years we have gained experience with a wide range of maritime services that are needed in the maritime world.
Typically the short notice, quick and dirty projects do steal our heart. Whether we work alone, or cooperate on projects with RDA Shiptech, Tarka Systems BV or Datum Electronics we are hands-on specialists when it comes to a wide range of maritime services.
Speed-power trials, manoeuvring trials and bollard pulls, but also a lot of troubleshooting trials where vibration measurements were done or propeller observations.
Also, installing and performing torque measurements, performing bollard pulls (shaftpower measuremenst together with towline force) and cavitation or propeller observations.
Over the years we have worked on hunderds of different ships and control rooms. Some very large and clean, some very greasy and cramped, but we always feel like we belong there.
One of our main activities is working strain gauge techniques. We apply straingauges in ships hull structures to help you measure and give you better insight.
